3. Kérastase Nutritive Masquintense

I use the Kerastase masque once a month, or more if my hair needs it. When I am working my hair gets beat up by heat-styling tools and this product soothes and softens.

4. Fekkai glossing shampoo and conditioner

Although it's a little pricey, Frederic Fekkai's Glossing Shampoo and Conditioner is my favorite. It has olive oil which helps dull hair shine.

5. Hair Rollers

Curlers!?! Yes, I love my set of curlers! They're fast, you don't have to be a styling pro and they take my wavy hair and smooth it out, but keep a little bounce in my hair.

6. Hair Bungees

Hair Bungees are my favorite rubber bands for pony tales and top knots. I brush my hair towards my crown and wrap that bad boy around the hair. It stays in, and my favorite, it's so easy to get out of your hair at the end of the day.

Break It To 'Em

In our next video, Break It To 'Em, we show a humorous situation regarding a very unique jumper. The video is silly, but the situation happens. How many times have you been shopping with a friend and she tries on something that she doesn't look good in? It can be easy to be honest if she's on the fence, but if she loves it, that could be a touchy situation. You don't want to make her feel bad about her body, or her sense of style, but you also know a true friend doesn't let a friend look bad.

In the video we show a few ways to tackle this situation. Start by complimenting her: "You look great," or "That color looks good on you." Then explain plainly why the outfit is a no: "The fit is wrong," or "The detailing makes it feel outdated, to me."

This being said, part of what makes the world interesting is diversity. You're friends don't have to have your exact style. Don't tell them no, just because you wouldn't wear it. If it looks good on them, and looks like how they want to present themselves to the world, go with it. Here at The Girls With Glasses Show, we encourage individuality.

This video was a lot of fun to shoot. We got our dresses from American Vintage on Ventura Blvd. Rachel Rose DeSimone did our makeup and Julio did our hair. The only problem we faced was the location. The W Hotel in Hollywood is beautiful, but even shooting high above the city we heard every bus (every 5 minutes), helicopter (2) and fire truck (3)! Hold for sound... Hold for sound... Hold for.... Ahhh!

Why Are Cupcakes So Great?

We started off this week by awarding two cupcake shops awards. The first is "Best Cupcake in Hollywood," which goes to the adorable Frosted Cupcakery. We love their bold decor, including the hues of pale blue, orange and brown. And, of course, we love their yummy cupcakes (Summer especially loved the strawberry).

The second award, "Best Cupcake in the Valley" goes to Big Sugar Bake Shop. It's no secret that this cupcake establishment holds a special place in Brooke's heart. Watch below to see why.

How To Plan a Party

The Girls With Glasses and Kate Spade can't take all the credit for our fabulous Altitude Summit party. We had a lot of help. These are the people who helped us look good.

Angela + Ithyle had a huge role in this party. From conception to the day of the event, they were by our side. They thought up the idea for this charming Coney Island Photo Booth and created all the pieces! Check out the video they put together below. They make delightful moving pictures along with still pictures; explore more on their youtube channel.)

For our adorable Coney Island inspired tickets, we used Jak Prints. Not only do they do these amazing vintage looking tickets, they also print stickers, and apparel. We were very impressed with them--cool company. If you are looking to build up your facebook fans or twitter followers we also recommend their new product, Favicards. Check it out.

Our gift bags were a huge hit. They included: cute faux glasses from us; Brooke White's High Hopes and Heartbreak; the amazing Tassi; some Kate Spade goodies and an Emergency Chocolate Bar.

Our tables were filled with beautiful Peonies by Jamie Bellessa, bubble gum balls in mason jars, and balloons.

We also featured adorable vintage cars, which can be bought at The Children's Shop at the Grand America Hotel. Ask for the fabulous Preston.

In the entry way, we had hundreds of balloons on the ceiling. Hanging from each balloon were charming black paper glasses. How did we make these iconic show stoppers? The Cricut, by Provo Craft, of course.

ALT SUMMIT DAD GUMMIT...

Looking at our last post waaaay back in December, we realized we've neglected the ol' blog, will you forgive us?! That however doesn't mean that we haven't been up to our ears in projects... of course we have, thus the reason for no blog post. As many of you know Summer has been working on a pretty big project, a person, which is quickly on his way, very exciting... we threw her an adorable baby shower to help her get ready last weekend with all of her lovely friends and fam. Then Brooke was in this lil' movie on Fox a few weeks ago and in the process of writing a new record. Meanwhile we have shot a few videos that are in the editing process... whew!

So speaking of projects, let's just talk about ALT SUMMIT. We just returned a bit frazzled from the Great Salt Lake where we were all partyin' with loads of creative and cute people like yourselves. We had gotten the call just a few weeks ago from ALT asking "hey girls with glasses, will you thow a party for us?" and naturally we said "YES!" so quickly we called our amazing friends at Kate Spade and asked them if they would join us, and they said "YES!" and then we thought, we really need to invite the most creative person we know to be apart of the action, so then we picked up the phone and called Angela Kohler of Angela + Ithyle (yes the Angela that shot our "I'm a girl video" and this...genius) and she said "YES!". Woohoo, that's three yes', so the wheels were in motion and in a flash we threw together this quirky, coney island-y colorful party and talk about fun! We had an amazing turn out, we were stunned to open our doors to find a long line of lovely ladies stretched down the hall waiting to come in. Upon entrance you were hit in the face by hanging glasses and walked through a sea of balloons (we literally blew up 1000 balloons, yes 1000, we started blowing them up at 10 am and didn't stop til party time) and then into a magical land of stripes, lollipops and gumballs and the most beautiful peonies you ever did see and bright pink kate spade gift bags that were gone in a blink of an eye. Anywho, we hope y'all had fun, cause we sure did!

Then there was the genius photo booth of Angela, where people snapped their pictures with their big heads on little bodies of mermaids and muscle men. If you haven't already gone to find your picture, click here to find your face, so fun!!

All in all it was a success, we learned a lot about throwing a party...and word is we'll be back next year and we are already getting a jump on it so we can make it super super duper!

Yesterday, Brooke and I put some time aside to work on The Girls With Glasses Show. We knew we wanted to do another video and I had messed around with some lyrics for a possible Christmas song. In true GWG style, we decided to write the song, find a recording studio, buy some jingle bells, record the song and shoot a video for the song all in about 5 hours. It was crazy, to say the least.

It was fun working with Brooke on music, I (again) realized how talented she is at creating music and singing (go figure). And I also learned that I should keep one ear out of the headset, because you can't hear your own voice. I sounded terrible...

But, we did have fun. Watch for our upcoming holiday video.

The Girls With Glasses in Rue Magazine

Brooke and Summer traveled to Palm Springs to shoot this lovely story for Rue Magazine. If you like interior design, you are going to love this new digital publication. Our location was the inspiring Elvis Honeymoon Suite. It is the actual house that Elvis and Priscilla rented out for their first night as husband and wife. Here are a few shots from the shoot. Check out the whole story in the second issue.

DRY SHAMPOO:
Flat hair, Oily roots, no access to a shower? Try Dry shampoo... works wonders on a second, third... dare we say fourth day hair do's. There are several brands making dry shampoo, Brooke's personal favorite is Pssss which is super cheap and can be found at your local drugstore.
LA MER TREATMENT POWDER:
This is another splurge... it's pretty fancy stuff, but if you are looking for a powder to wipe away signs of facial fatigue induced by a sleepless red eye flight, this is the one. It is soft as velvet and the color never looks fake or too pinky. As well it has a built in SPF 15.
DERMALOGICA SPRAY:
That not so fresh airplane cabin air doesn't do your skin any favors, you might notice that it begins to feel dry and tight after a long flight... Dermalogica makes some fantastic toners that will help to re-hydrate, refresh and calm your skin.
TIDE TO GO MINI PEN:
Wouldn't it be wonderful to live in a world where everything was travel-sized... what an adorable world it would be. Brooke White and Summer Bellessa met on MySpace as fans and supporters of each others’ work, soon growing into good friends. "We would send each other new blogs that we fancied, or new music that we couldn't get enough of," says Summer. "We are both traditional on some things and innovative on others," adds Brooke. The girls’ paths have connected with The Girls With Glasses Show project, but it took very different ways to get there.

Brooke White
The magic of Brooke White resonates within her music and the former nanny’s first full-length release since she became an American Idol finalist in 2008. Brooke made an unforgettable first impression on Idol’s seventh season when she told the judges that she’d never watched an R-rated movie, prompting Simon Cowell to offer to bring her “to the dark side.” But as viewer’s found throughout her charmed run to a Top 5 finish, the Phoenix, Ariz. native presented herself like a beacon of light that shone through that “dark side,” a passionate swirl of willowing soul and ‘70s flavored gold.

The oldest of four siblings, Brooke’s parents passed their love of music on to their children, and that love has blossomed in her. “My upbringing is entirely the reason that I am the artist that I am today,” she says. “My parents are hardcore music fans, and we grew up in a small house, close together all the time. Music was the therapy that made us very happy as a family … I’m not an average music listener. I do this because I really do love it.”

Summer Bellessa
At four years old, Summer Bellessa started her modeling career and by 17 had the opportunity to travel the world living in fashion capitals that include: Paris, Hamburg, New York, Miami, London and Tokyo. Summer had clients such as Clairol, Sears, Target, Shiseido, Secret, Glamour, AT&T and Vidal Sassoon. Those experiences as a model opened her eyes to the world outside her hometown of Chicago Heights, Ill. Her metamorphosis from model into entrepreneur began as she effortlessly brought creative and talented people together to do great things.

Today, Summer continues to nurture creative minds from all kinds of different backgrounds capturing the fashion world as Founder and Editor of women’s fashion and lifestyle magazine ELIZA. A national publication that can be found in Barnes & Noble stores across the country, ELIZA was created for women who want to be stylish, sexy and engaged in the world while retaining high standards in dress, entertainment and lifestyle. "I chose the name Eliza because of my high regard for Audrey Hepburn, her style and her lifestyle.
